Itinerary
Your private tour guide will pick you up at Venice pier and bring you to the island of Murano, where you will visit a glass factory and stand in awe as skilled artisans shape molten glass into stunning masterpieces.
See these rare treasures come to life as you learn how colors and shapes are achieved.
Next, you continue to Venice, where you will enjoy a two hour walking tour to include St. Marks Square and Basilica, the Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Prisons.
St Mark's Square is the heart of the city and symbol of Venice. It is enriched by the presence of the famous bell tower, small shops and elegant cafes. It is dominated by St. Mark's Basilica, which was originally built in 829 AD.
The Doge's Palace was once the home of the Doges (Dukes), who were officials that were elected for life.
The Bridge of Sighs was built in 1614 to link the Doge's Palace to the structure intended to house the Prison.
The famous name of the bridge dates from the Romantic period and was supposed to refer to the sighs of prisoners who, passing from the courtroom to the cell in which they would serve their sentence, took a last look at freedom.
After your walking tour, you have free time for lunch, explore the area around the Rialto Bridge or have a romantic gondola ride, before returning to your ship in Venice port.

INFO
Venice: Founded in the 5th century and spread over 118 small islands, Venice became a major maritime power in the 10th century. The whole city is an extraordinary architectural masterpiece in which even the smallest building contains works by some of the world's greatest artists such as Titian, Tintoretto, and others. The Republic of Venice was a major financial and maritime power during the Middle Ages and Renaissance and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its extraordinary architectural masterpieces
Murano: Murano was initially settled by the Romans. Murano’s reputation as a center for glass-making was born when the Venetian Republic, fearing fire and the destruction of the city’s mostly wooden buildings, ordered glass-makers to move their foundries to Murano in 1291. Some of the companies that own historical glass factories in Murano are among the most important brands of glass in the world
