DESCRIPTION
Itinerary
Meet with your private driver at the Arrecife Port to begin this tour across the lunar landscape of Southern Lanzarote Island to the Timfanaya National Park, which is composed of hundreds of volcanic cones and it's the main attraction on the island.
Admiring the protected volcanic landscapes is like traveling to another world with smooth sand-like lava rocks next to big and sharp boulders, and from black, to orange, to red.
Timfanaya is one of of the main part of the Lanzarote Biosphere Reserve, established by the UNESCO in 1993. Your driver will escort you to the entrance of the Park, from where you will board a bus and drive along the Route of the Volcanoes. It takes 30 to 40min to do the whole loop.
At the shop and facilities of the Park you will even get a chance to witness some geothermal experiments evidencing whats going on just below the earth's surface.
After this, head with your private driver to the stunning Green Lagoon of El Golfo. The rare minerals emitted from the volcano cause the waters in the lagoon to naturally appear fluorescent green in color.
Next, drive to Yaiza, an enchanting village of brilliant white-washed houses, which is included in a list of the top six most beautiful villages in the whole of Spain.
Next, have a Wine Cellar Tour in one of the oldest vineyards in La Geria, where you learn about this unique wine growing region and taste the Lanzarote wine.
Continue to the Eastern part of the Island driving along typical villages like Teguise and arriving at the Famara Cliffs, a true marvel of nature. A huge wall of rock rises more than 1500 ft from the sea and spans over 13 miles along the northwest coast.
After this, visit the Jameos del Agua cave, conceived by the Lanzarote born artist, César Manrique. In this cave located in the North of the island there's a natural lake, home to an albino crab, unique in the world.
Besides a garden of palm trees you see a museum devoted to volcanoes which provides several interactive activities and an auditorium, which hosts all kinds of concerts and events within a unique landscape.
At the end of the tour, your private driver will return you to the Arrecife Port.
