ITINERARY

Day 1   Rome - Umbria region

• Departure from Rome train station to Umbria region and stop in the tiny village of Narni. Time for lunch. Continue to your Yoga retreat, an Historical Country Residence. The retreat is a part of a XII th century Abbey and It is located in a thick wood, within the Natural park of the Nera river, with a marvelous view over the valley. Here art and history blend together with unspoiled nature and silence.
  Time at leisure for exploring the place. Dinner and overnight
  
  

Day 2  Spoleto - Montefalco 

• Yoga session and breakfast. Departure for charming town of Spoleto, which is renowned for its Festival of the Two Worlds, an annual music and opera festival held each year in summer. Wander in the narrow streets of the Medieval town and walk on the spectacular “Bridge of Towers”, which crosses a deep gorge and connects Spoleto' s castle with a fortification tower on the other side of the gorge. 
  
• Enjoy a wine and oil tasting and some of the typical Umbrian food at a local country farm in Montefalco, a walled town famous for its D.O.C. wine and extra virgin olive oil

Day 3  Marmore Falls - Piediluco Lake - Nera River valley

• Yoga session and breakfast. Departure for the “Marmore Falls”, the highest waterfalls in Europe, along the famous Nera river valley, dotted with Medieval villages in a beautiful countryside. After about 20 minutes of walk you reach “The lover’s balcony”, in front of the first drop of the Falls. It is a little terrace situated at the end of a tunnel, in the limestone rock, few inches from the Falls. If you stretch out the legs, you can touch the water!
  
• Take one of the beautiful trials around the Falls and enjoy the sight of the Falls from different corners
• In the afternoon drive to “Piediluco Lake”, set in a natural environment of incomparable beauty. Due to particularly favorable climatic conditions and an absence of wind and currents the lake is the seat for the National Rowing Center

Day 4   Montefranco - Castel di Lago 

• Yoga session and breakfast. Morning at leisure at your retreat. In the afternoon visit the old village of Montefranco and Castel di Lago, where you will have a typical Umbrian dinner

Day 5   Norcia - National Park - Visso

• Yoga session and breakfast. Departure for Norcia, the birth place of St Benedict, the patron saint of Europe and students. Meet the Benedictine monks who live in the Basilica. They work in the fields and they brew their own bier.
• Norcia main attraction is its food. Enjoy a taste of local products, like the famous sausage, lentils, ham, cheese and wild boar meat in a local restaurant
• Continue to the village of Castelluccio, located in the heart of Mount Sibillini National Park and enjoy the view of the fields with colored wildflowers. Arrive in Vallinfante, a tiny village where you will see the sources of the river Nera, the main affluent of the river Tiber. Stop in Visso, before returning to your retreat
  

Day 6   Ferentillo - Greccio

• Yoga session and breakfast. Visit Ferentillo, a scenic village by the Nera River with picturesque castle ruins above it. See St Stephan church, which was used as a burial ground from about 1500 to 1871, when some mummies were discovered. Bodies buried there were preserved by a rare micro-fungus that attacked the corpses and turned them into mummies. Some of the bodies still have hair, beards, or teeth intact and a few even have clothes
  
• Continue to the hilltop village of Greccio and see the spectacular monastery perched on a steep rock and where the first nativity was created in 1223. See the original sleeping rooms of the friars

Day 7   Scheggino - River floating - Nature walk

• Nature walk in the extraordinary scenery of Nera Valley. Visit the unique Hemp Museum and explore the medieval village of Santa Anatolia di Narco. Have a taste of local food. Enjoy a lovely river floating with experienced licensed guides (swimming in the river is possible). 
• Farewell dinner in a typical restaurant in the village of Scheggino, famous for the production of truffles and other delicacies, like trout and crayfish caught in its clear streams
  

Day 8   Departure

• Yoga session and breakfast. Transfer to Rome train station
