Itinerary
Meet with your private driver at the Malaga Port to begin the scenic drive to the interior of Andalusia, one of Spain's autonomous regions. Upon arriving at Cordoba, you will be struck by the unique array of architectural styles present in the city, representative of the cultural footprints left by various groups over the course of history. Here you can also see some remaining vestiges of the Roman walls that enclosed the original city, and a Roman bridge that has weathered the centuries.
Walk the cobbled streets lined with balconies overflowing with flowers, as you make your way to the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, The Castle of the Christian Kings. You will get a chance to explore the UNESCO-listed medieval palace-fortress and the beautiful gardens surrounding it as you begin to learn about the history of Cordoba.
Next head towards the Great Mosque of Cordoba, known locally as the Mezquita- learn about the interesting tales of the mosque-cathedral's history from its origins in 600 AD to the Christian conversion of the 13th century. Marvel at the Moorish architecture and explore the intricately ornamented interior, with its red and white candy-cane striped columns, shimmering gold mosaics, and delicate domes.
Next take a leisurely stroll to the Jewish Quarter, where you will visit Spain's largest Synagogue, and enrich your knowledge of the religious and cultural fabric of Cordoba, a truly unique city.
Finally, have some free time to relax in the old center, and wander the Calleja de las Flores, a quaint street that allows lovely views of Cordoba's monuments.
Begin your journey back to Malaga where your driver will return you to your cruise ship dock.
