Day 1 Arrival in Rome
Transfer to your hotel in Rome, which is located in the city center Day 2 Orvieto - Chianciano Terme Departure for Orvieto, an old Etruscan town and see the stunning Cathedral. After a stroll on the cobbled streets of the old town you will have a lunch in one of the most amazing places, an Etruscan wine cellar dating back to more than 2500 years ago. You will explore the ancient underground storage rooms, where Roman ancestors stored wine, olive oil and other products. Your lunch would be prepared by a professional chef, who lectures at Perugia's University. Continue to Chianciano Terme, one of the finest health resorts in Italy with its parks, numerous hotels and especially its therapeutic water, where your welcome dinner would start with an Italian "prosecco" sparkling wine Day 3 Pienza - Orcia Valley - Montalcino - Montepulciano Drive through the "World Heritage Site" Orcia Valley and visit Pienza, once upon a time a papal summer retreat. Visit a typical country farm, where you will be tasting the worldwide famous "Brunello di Montalcino" wine in a renowned winery in the outskirts of the town of Montalcino. Continue to Montepulciano, a walled hill town, built on a sloping and narrow limestone ridge in the heart of the Vino Nobile wine growing area. It's the largest hill town in southern Tuscany and is known for its impressive central square, beautiful Renaissance buildings, churches, and views. Visit an ancient wine cellar before returning to Chianciano Terme in the late afternoon Day 4 Cortona - Cooking class Morning departure to a peaceful valley in Central Tuscany, where you have an interesting and funny cooking class at a local country farm in a spectacular setting. Learn to make Italian pasta and meat, try different ingredients and have a lunch with wine at the country farm. Continue to Cortona, a hilltop town, where the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” has been filmed. Stroll in the medieval cobbled streets of the old town, before returning to your hotel in Chianciano Terme in the afternoon Day 5 Siena - San Gimignano Departure for Siena, famous for the “Palio” race, a frenzy horse race, which is held in the main square. Walking tour of the town with the spectacular Duomo, the narrow streets and the beautiful churches. Have lunch in one of the many typical restaurants and spend some time on your own for strolling in the old town. Continue to San Gimignano, famous for its tower houses dating back to medieval time and which looks like a town plucked from a fairy tale and set into the Tuscan countryside. Enjoy a stroll in this marvelous village and take your time for pictures and an Italian "gelato" in the main square. Check in at your hotel, which is located in the old town. Day 6 San Gimignano - Winery Spend some time in the morning to visit San Gimignano and have lunch in a typical winery where you will taste some local products, like cheese, ham and much more! Visit a lovely country farm in the hill near San Gimignano, where you can see the cattle around the farm and taste local food and wine in the local restaurant. Return to San Gimignano after dinner Day 7 Castellina in Chianti - Country farm Visit the South Chianti region, dotted with medieval villages and rolling hills. Stop in the town of Castellina in Chianti and have some time to wonder around in the old town. Continue to a local country farm, where you will have a tour of the vineyard and the olive trees, before tasting typical products of the Tuscan cuisine. Return to San Gimignano in the afternoon Day 8 Chianti Region - Montecatini Terme Departure for the Chianti region and visit he tiny village of Greve in Chianti with the famous square and the one hundred years old butcher shop. Have a wine cellar tour and a wine tasting in a typical Tuscan winery. Continue to your hotel in Montecatini Terme, where you are going to spend three nights. Montecatini Terme is a lovely town located between Florence and Lucca, internationally well known for its thermal baths and ancient buildings built in the late 18th century by the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Day 9 Florence - "fiorentina steak" restaurant Departure for Florence and guided tour of the capital of Tuscany. Visit the worldwide famous Academy of Fine Arts (Michelangelo's David), Ponte Vecchio, Duomo and all the many attractions of the town. Time at leisure for shopping, or a stroll on the cobbled streets of the old town. Have a delicious dinner in one of the most typical restaurant in town, where you can eat the famous "fiorentina t-bone steak" , one of the most famous dishes in Tuscany. Return to Montecatini Terme in the evening Day 10 Cooking class - Lucca Excursion to Lucca where your private guide will show you around the cobbled streets of the old town. You are going to see the best preserved city wall in Europe and other attractions like the Cathedral, the square of the amphitheater, St Michael church, the Giacomo Puccini statue and much more. Have lunch in a country farm, where you learn to make "Italian pasta" in a friendly cooking class. Return to Montecatini Terme in the afternoon Day 11 Departure transfer to Florence After breakfast transfer to Florence airport/hotel/train station You can add extra nights in Florence or Rome, before or after the tour
